This week I’m introducing you to my colleague Waheed Wazir, a Mobile Security Patrol Operations Supervisor at Lodge Service who is currently responsible for all Lancashire operations. Waheed has worked in the keyholding and response industry for over 15 years for Lodge Service, growing from a response officer to the demanding position of a department supervisor.
How did you get into keyholding and alarm response and what is the difference between this division and man guarding?
Waheed’s response………. I applied for the role with Lodge over 15 years ago and the fast-paced position appealed to me. The difference from a man guarding role and a response role is that no day is the same, mobile response is very fast paced and very processed driven. You need to be self-motivated, comfortable working alone and fully aware of the dangers of responding to fluid situations. It can be daunting but also very exciting! That being said, we have processes to limit the risk.
What do you enjoy most about working Lodge?
Waheed’s response……….People….At Lodge it’s all about people, from officer to Director lodge invest in there staff and Stuart the owner spends time in getting to know everyone which is very unique. I haven’t worked for another company where a CEO knows my name and actually takes the time to talk to me about my day.
What does a typical day look like for you as a mobile security patrol supervisor?
Waheed’s response……….A day as a Mobile Response Supervisor is never the same, from key audits, client meetings, officer reviews, dealing with incidents, mobilising new contracts the role is very different every day and extremely busy.
What excites you the most about the work?
Waheed’s response……….Delivering service of excellence to our clients and getting good client feedback, since I have worked in the Lancashire branch we have never lost a contract due to poor service and most of the customers since I started 15 years ago are still with us today which is refreshing. I have connections as an officer that I’ve been able to grow as a supervisor, ensuring the continuity of service and contracts.
Have you learned anything new since you started?
Waheed’s response………. Yes, I have learned about different sectors of the security industry, technology, people, geography and different functions within the security industry as a whole. Lodge has given me many opportunities to grow an evolve in different sectors.
What would you like someone who’s interested in working in the keyholding industry to know?
It’s extremely fast paced but your day goes very quickly, you have different challenges everyday but that’s what keeps it enjoyable and challenging and is the main reason I have stayed in mobile response for the last 15 years.
